Instagram launches video platform called IGTV to counter YouTubechanakya
In a recently held event in San Francisco, Instagram had launched its video platform IGTV, The company added a new post on its blog to inform us about the new feature. This seems to be Facebook‘s attempt to take on YouTube but with some twist. IGTV will be a separate app, but you can also access it via the Instagram app as well. On IGTV you can upload an hour long video.
Instagram CEO Kevin said in that event “we’re announcing our most exciting feature to date: IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from your favourite Instagram creators, like LaurDIY posting her newest project or King Bach sharing his latest comedy skit. While there’s a stand-alone IGTV app, you’ll also be able to watch from within the Instagram app so the entire community of one billion can use it from the very start.
Instagram also intended to make monetization for creators on this platform in coming months. He explained that since creators are investing a lot of time into IGTV videos, he wants to make that sustainable by offering them a way to monetize in the future.IGTV will also let creators develop Instagram Channels full of their different videos that people can subscribe to. Creators will be able to put links in the description of their videos to drive traffic elsewhere.
The IGTV app is available on play store and IOS for downloads.
